Raised on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, Alyson attended the Professional Children’s School while working professionally as a kid in show biz. Alyson received an early introduction to the arts at the age of 6, when she booked her first national commercial (Twining’s Tea). At 10 years old, she landed the part of Duffy in the first national touring company of Annie. Her other credits include Off Broadway shows, several national commercials, voiceovers, and various film and TV roles.
Alyson trained classically in voice with top New York City teachers, and studied at the Lucy Moses School of Music and The Neighborhood Playhouse. In dance, she studied at Steps and Broadway Dance Center. She had the opportunity to work on the other side of the business for 3 years in Manhattan as a talent scout, casting agent and talent manager. Alyson has been teaching singing lessons for over 15 years.
Her greatest joy comes from her husband Rob and 3 children, Jordan, Danielle, and Tyler, and their new puppy Riley. Alyson is delighted to be able to unite her passion for performing arts with her love of children with Star Kidz dancing, acting and singing classes for kids in NYC and Westchester.
Suzanne moved to NYC at the age of 20 and spent 13 years in show business performing as an accomplished singer, actress and dancer whose credits include Grand Hotel on Broadway and the leading role of Grizabella in the Vienna company of Cats. She also worked as a recording artist and performer in Europe. Suzanne completed the two-year acting program and master courses at the William Esper Studio, and studied voice and dance with leading teachers in NYC.
Following her career as a performer, Suzanne graduated from The Culinary Institute of America for Pastry and worked in NYC restaurants. But when Suzanne realized how much she loved children and wanted to work with them, she joined the inclusion program at Greenwich Elementary School, where she worked for three years before co-founding Star Kidz singing, dancing, & acting classes for children in New York.
Suzanne was thrilled to join forces with Alyson at Star Kidz, where she has been able to unite her love of children and teaching with her experience as a performer. She has 3 grown girls and lives with her husband and dog in Yonkers. She is proud to be a grandma, too!
Diana has been the Star Kidz office manager and substitute acting teacher for almost three years. As a child she did extensive modeling and fashion shows. She performed in theatre productions at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Brooklyn Academy of Music and was an understudy in a Broadway show that previewed in Boston.
Diana’s done voice-overs, has been in numerous television commercials, and was featured in a TV movie. She is a graduate of the High School of Performing Arts in NYC. Diana is the mother of four and lives in Rye. She loves working with children, has taught CCD at Resurrection Church for nine years and loves being a member of the Star Kidz family.
Stephanie Benware is so delighted to be a part of the wonderful Star Kidz family for her first year! A St. Louis, MO native, she attended Missouri State University where she earned her BFA in musical theatre. After selling her car and moving to the Big Apple after college in 2010, she booked her dream show in Tokyo with the International tour A Chorus Line (Swing).
Favorite regional credits include: Steel Magnolias (Shelby), How to Succeed…(Rosemary), Noises Off! (Belinda), Little Women: The Musical (Amy), Grease (Sandy). Aside from the stage, Stephanie is currently working on an Independent film in the NYC area aside her new husband and actor, Bryan. She is so thankful to be a part of educating the new generation of performers! Thanks Star Kidz for this opportunity!
Carla Rose Fisher
Carla has been part of the Star Kidz family since 2008. Originally from a big Italian family in Pennsylvania, her ease around eight nieces and nephews laid the groundwork for her teaching career. She studied musical theatre and voice at Baldwin Wallace University in Cleveland, where she performed the National Anthem for an NBA game.
Carla moved to NYC after performing at Lincoln Center on the same bill as Brian Stokes Mitchell in front of theatre luminaries Cy Coleman and Stephen Schwartz, upon winning the ASCAP/Lilith Fair Songwriting Competition. She became a lyricist in the BMI Workshop, writing and performing with contemporary musical theatre writers, including a song in the Broadway-bound musical IT SHOULDA BEEN YOU. Carla has performed in readings at Manhattan Theatre Club, Monday Nights New Voices at the Duplex and Musicals Tonight, and her lyrics were featured in the NAMT Festival, Pittsburgh CLO Cabaret and many more. She lives with her husband in Westchester.
Natalie is thrilled to be a member of such a fantastic group of talented and inspiring ladies! She has been an instructor for Star Kidz for 6 years while living in New York City. She is a singer/dancer/actor who has had many exciting experiences in the business, including: being a finalist on America’s Got Talent, being a guest artist on Holland America cruise lines, and singing for Broadway Cares: Equity Fights AIDS with some of Broadway’s biggest names such as Liz Calloway and Kristin Chenoweth. She currently performs in Rock cover bands around the city, Long Island and Connecticut and is contracted with the Hank Lane Agency for weddings and special occasions. Natalie has had over eighteen years of training in jazz, tap, ballet and musical theatre dance and is the assistant choreographer for Star Kidz.
Favorite roles include Anita in West Side Story, Toni in Cactus Flower, and Frenchy in Grease. She has always been a believer that learning to use your imagination is the first tool to becoming well rounded and interesting person and loves to see kids develop from timid to outgoing and confident with a little encouragement.
Verna has been a teacher for Star Kidz for 5 years. She is a graduate of the Circle In The Square Professional Theater School. After graduation, she continued studying with Zina Jasper. Her regional stage work includes The Williamstown Theatre Festival, The Phoenix Theatre and The Children’s Theatre Center of New Jersey.
Off Broadway she has appeared in Wilder, Wilder, Wilder (Drama Desk Nomination – Best Revival), Who Will Carry The Word?, A Child’s Christmas In Wales, The Balcony, Street Scene, and Don Juan Comes Back From The War, all with the Willow Cabin Theatre Company. She has appeared in numerous soap operas, commercials and films. She is a member of Actors Equity and SAG/AFTRA.
Verna has also worked as a teaching artist in the New York City School System, teaching Daniel Sklar’s “Playmaking” program. As a mother of twin girls who are now in their teens, Verna spent four years coaching soccer for the White Plains Department of Recreation with girls ages 8 through 12.
Rachel is an actor and director from Seattle, Washington now teaching with Star Kidz dancing, acting, & singing classes for children for a second year. She received her BFA in Theatre from Hofstra University and continues to train in acting at the Matthew Corozine Studio Theatre in Manhattan. Rachel has appeared in both theatre and film projects in the NY area, most recently starring in “Alice,” a short film currently making the rounds at film festivals. She is so thrilled and honored to work with all the amazing Star Kidz!
Margo Brooke Pellmar
Margo is an actress, teacher, and the resident playwright at Star Kidz, where she has spent the past six seasons.
She studied theatre at Sarah Lawrence College, Circle in the Square, BADA in Oxford, and the Upright Citzen’s Brigade. She has taught in the New York City school systems and the surrounding areas for thirteen years. She’s taught hip-hop dancing at Yonkers P.S. 40, acting at Sarah Lawrence College’s Lunch Box Theatre Program, movement and dance at Biz Kids NY, acting through outreach and adolescent education with Nite Star Theatre Company, and finally at Star Kidz. She is a member of SAG/AFTRA and Actor’s Equity.
Margo’s favorite theatre roles have been Marilyn Monroe in Myth America and Georganne in Five Women Wearing the Same Dress. She also loves improv and big, funny accents. Margo offers private monologue coaching.
Natalie Peyser is thrilled to be joining the team at Star Kidz acting, dancing, and singing classes for children in NYC and Westchester. Originally from Los Angeles, she graduated from the University of Southern California in three years with honors (Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa). While at USC, she was given the opportunity to teach Stanislavsky’s acting techniques to her fellow students. She also produced, acted in, and directed many independent student productions of musicals. Her work was recognized with a Stage Scene LA nomination for Best Actress in a Musical (Sunday in the Park with George).
Natalie has worked Off-Broadway, on television, in voice overs, has performed extensively with Upright Citizens Brigade, and is a proud member of Actor’s Equity Association. Find out more about Natalie at www.nataliepeyser.com and come say hello in class!
